Course Details:

This Course is compulsory if you want to become a holder of a Operational Authorisation  under the Specific Category. You will have to either submit a PDRA or a SORA in order to conduct high risk operations. Specific Drone Operations are considered to be High Risk, where as the Open Category Operations are deemed as Low Risk operations.

This is a 12 hour course. This course covers all subjects that the IAA have deemed necessary for Drone Operations on Fixed-Wing. Multi-Rotor UAVs and Vertical Take-off And Landing (VTOL). There is a written exam at the end of the Course. This Written Exam is 40 questions of multiple choice. You must receive 75% of the overall marks to successfully pass the course.

There is no Course Prerequisites for this course. It is for beginners from any commercial field.

Course Details:

We designed this blended learning course for drone pilots who want to operate in controlled air space, or their drone operations have a higher risk. We will cover the requirements for an Operational Authorisation in the Specific category under the EASA rules and regulations. By obtaining your training with us, you will be able to operate across all EASA member states. You will learn the principles and requirements for an Operational Authorisation. We will go through operations under STS 01 or a SORA, a National STS or one of the published PDRAs.

A blended theoretical knowledge course of 24/7 online access to our learning platform and one-day live Zoom webinar; Course completion certificates for the Open Subcategory A2 and Specific Category STS; Bespoke Operations Manual issued to you under STS-01 PDRA-01; A Practical Flight Assessment Test.

During this course, we will cover these subjects:

Air Safety; Aviation Regulations; Navigation; Human Performance Limitations; Operational Procedures; UAS General Knowledge; Meteorology.

On the completion of this training, you will be able to:

Prepare risk assessment for the organisation using SORA methodology. Get the operations manual issued to the organisation. Your operational authorisation application is signed off in MySRS in accordance with the limitations in the Operations Manual, and the practical flight assessment then takes place in accordance with either the PDRA or SORA Con Ops and procedures. Following this, all the paperwork is uploaded to the MySRS system.

Blended learning experience:

You will receive access to our training platform, where at your own pace you will complete and pass the theoretical knowledge exam in Open Subcategory A2. Then, you will be invited to a full day live Zoom webinar where you will have the opportunity to meet our Chief Instructor – Captain Julie, who will take you through the specific requirements and procedures for drone pilots and operators operating in the Specific Category.
