We got in touch with Ronan to see what his presentation will be all about, read on to see what he had to say:
I’m excited to be returning to Ireland this May to see family and friends. I’m thrilled to have been invited by CITA to make a presentation at their next event. It’s been 4 years since I last spoke at one of CITA’s first BIM events in Dublin and a lot has happened in the last few years.
It’s 20 years since I graduated from UCD, so I’m half way through my professional career. So, what has changed in the past two decades and what’s going to change in the next twenty years?
The short answer is everything!
I’m going to use this opportunity to share my thoughts on why we are entering a new and exciting era for technology in construction. I will explain how I see BIM, VDC, VR, laser scanning, UAV, IOT and other tools such as cloud computing and social media are all intertwining to improve construction productivity and safety. A pending construction boom in the US paired with substantial investments in IT is fueling the rapid growth of new tools and apps. But I will also highlight the challenges and barricades that face our industry which are impeding innovation in our sector.
… my working title is …
“Forgive me Father, for I have BIM’ed, it has been 4 years since my last confession”
Thanks,
Ronan
