CITA 22nd Members Meeting held in the Science Gallery Trinity College, 25th May 2011 |
 |
The event focused on Creating Interactive Facility Management capabilities through the use of Builidng Information Modelling Systems. The speakers included Niall O'Toole, INTEL Corporation "Tracking the latest Trends in FM", Neil Moran, Dublin Airport Authority, "Managing Terminal 2, Dublin Airport, The Challenges and Opportunities", Malachy Matthews, Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Bolton Street, "Achieving Sustainable High Performance Buildings through Knowledge-Based Builidng Information Modelling Systems" and Enda Nolan, Coastway Limited, "Applying BIM to Existing Buildings". Sponsors for the event included Enterprise Ireland, Moore DFM, Datech, Autodesk, Integrated Facilities Solutions (IFS), Project Programme Management Ltd and Synchro Ltd.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Alliance to share with it's members and the wider industry the potential that BIM can bring to building owners, through the use of an as-built model as a project deliverable. One of the largest problems in dealing with end of project information is the large volume of documentation owners are left with, such as drawings, specifications, warranties, installation instructions etc. This amounts to large volumes of unlinked information going through many hands, which can result in unorganised or even worse, lost data. In some cases, the warranties are even voided because of improper maintenance.
All of the presentations were well received by an audience of over 80 delegates.
All of the presentations are available in the Member Area of the website under Presentations.
