While the immediate challenge is economics, the big challenge is delivering on "carbon" targets in the long term.  It is generally reported that the level of analysis required to predict the performance of buildings or assess retrofit/upgrade options, is not feasible without sophisticated BIM models or computational analysis tools. 

It is nteresting to note that the UK Government recommendation to implement BIM came our of the IGT study to deliver "Low Carbon Construction".

The convergence of BIM and Green Building is the "sweet spot" for long term gains for clients.

An outcome of this workshop would be a consensus of the central role that BIM plays to the practice of design, construction and facilities management for a long term sustainable solution for the build environment.
